Pats losing streak reaches double digits after 2-1 loss to Hurricanes

Regina once again found themselves on the wrong side of a one-goal game as the Hurricanes defeated the Pats 2-1 Friday night in Lethbridge.

It’s the tenth loss in a row for the Pats who haven’t won since opening night against the Moose Jaw Warriors.

All the scoring from both sides came in the first period. The Hurricanes struck twice in the first seven minutes of the game. Jett Jones hit the twine at 2:03 followed by a 5-on-3 power play marker from Calen Addison at 6:40.

The Pats responded on their own man advantage halfway through the period. Zack Wytinck scored his first with the Pats, second of the season, on a shot from the blueline to make it 2-1 Hurricanes after the opening 20 minutes.

Despite outshooting the Hurricanes 33-22 and having eight other power play opportunities (Regina went 1/9 on the night), the Pats couldn’t find a way to tie the score versus Lethbridge. Danton Belluk made 20 saves for Regina.

The Pats (1-10-0-0) continue their road trip with a visit to the Red Deer Rebels on Saturday night. All the action will be live on 620 CKRM beginning with pre-game at 6:30 p.m. and puck drop at 7 p.m. from the Westerner Park Centrium in Red Deer, Alberta.
