Flu shots now available in Saskatchewan

Flu shots are now available in Saskatchewan.

This year’s vaccination is available at public health clinics and pharmacies, and can also be given by doctors and nurses.

Health Minister Jim Reiter says the province ordered close to 400,000 doses this year so there are no availability problems expected.

Residents of all ages are being encouraged to get vaccinated, even if you are in good health.

Health officials say the flu can be passed on to people who are at high risk of complications like pregnant women, elderly and children.

Last year 69 people in the province were hospitalized due to the flu. Thirteen passed away, including four children.
