Fire destroys Rosetown Agro Centre

The Central Plains Co-Op says part of the Agro Centre in Rosetown was destroyed by fire Saturday night.

The Agro Centre remains in operation following a large fire late Saturday night.

Retail and office space, as well as the crop protection warehouse were destroyed.

Central Plains Co-op General Manager Mike Moon said it has been a busy couple of days for the Agro Centre’s twelve employees.

“We managed to find office space for them to keep them going for the next little bit until  we can get some kind of a portable or temporary solution back on site.”

Moon said the fire took a turn for the worst thanks to weather conditions.

“It looked like it was going to be a small, local fire in one portion of the building, but having said that I believe the wind conditions played a big factor,” Moon said. “The fire kind of mobilized and gained strength in itself.”

Some customers are being contacted, but Moon says it will be business as usual.

Investigators indicate the fire started in the radiant heater or the wiring leading to it.
