Pats take over Mosaic Stadium when they face Hitmen in Prairie Classic

The Regina Pats (2-10-0-0) are in a different venue on Sunday afternoon when they host the Calgary Hitmen (7-2-1-0).

After the Winnipeg Jets won in overtime 2-1 over the Calgary Flames on Saturday night in the NHL Heritage Classic, the WHL clubs will be taking over in the 2019 Prairie Classic from Mosaic Stadium.

The last time the Pats were in action was over a week ago when they came back to beat the Red Deer Rebels 6-5 in a shootout, ending a 10-game losing streak.

It has been a much different season for the Hitmen who are coming off a 4-2 win over the Warriors in Moose Jaw on Friday night. Calgary sits seventh in the Eastern Conference standings with 15 points, but they’ve played the fewest games in the league at 10.

The Hitmen have won their last three games.

Pre-game festivities get underway at noon with puck drop at 2:00 p.m. CST. Listen to the game live with Phil Andrews on 620 CKRM with the pre-game show beginning at 1:35 p.m.

Notes:

  • This will be the first time the Pats have hosted an outdoor game in Regina. They played outdoors in Calgary back in 2011, winning 3-2 over the Hitmen.
  • Regina was 2-2-0-0 versus the Hitmen during the 2018-19 campaign.
  • Pats COO Stacey Cattell says fans are in for a fun experience on Sunday afternoon. “There are some things we have to draw back because it’s a massive space that we can’t pull it off, but it’s going to be a great game and we can’t wait.”
  • The uniforms the Pats are wearing for the game are currently available for auction. Fans can go online to place their bids until 3:15 p.m. CST.
