Adjust your driving habits to meet the winter conditions: SGI

Many parts of Saskatchewan are getting the first significant taste of winter, and SGI is asking people to adjust their driving habits to meet conditions.

SGI’s Tyler McMurchy says it always takes time for drivers to get accustomed to snowy roads. “One of the things that everyone needs to keep in mind is the traction is just not going to be the same as when conditions are ideal. You are going to want to drive slowly and adjust your following distance.”

“We highly recommend winter tires,” McMurchy adds. “They do really make a difference on those slippery conditions so if it’s something people want to invest in, we highly recommend it.”

He reminds people to clear snow and ice from vehicles to see and be seen, and have a winter emergency kit with you.
