Pats back at Brandt Centre for Sunday afternoon tilt with Rebels

Nearly 15 games into the 2019-2020 WHL season, the Regina Pats only have two wins to their name.

They began the season with a 3-2 victory over the Moose Jaw Warriors, lost ten games in a row before sneaking by the Red Deer Rebels 6-5 in a shootout on October 19. Since that win, they have lost twice.

The Pats (2-11-1-0), who are dead last in the league standings, have a chance to pick up their third victory Sunday evening when they host the Rebels at the Brandt Centre.

Regina is coming off a 6-3 loss on Friday against the Raiders in Prince Albert, a game where the Pats were leading 2-1 at the start of the third period before allowing five goals.

In his post-game interview that night, head coach Dave Struch felt his team’s performance during the first two periods were two of their best periods of the year. The Pats held the second-best team in the WHL standings to one goal between the first and second periods.

He’ll be hoping his players can channel that same energy for Sunday’s showdown with Red Deer.
