Regina Police officer seriously injured during arrest Sunday afternoon

A Regina Police officer was seriously injured Sunday afternoon while responding to a stolen vehicle call.

Around 3:45 p.m. police were dispatched to the Cornwall Centre parkade on Saskatchewan Drive

Officers located the stolen vehicle and were then met with resistance from the suspect.

A taser was deployed and the suspect was taken into custody.

The injured officer was transported to hospital with  injuries classified as serious but not life threatening.

Police did not say how the officer was injured, or what charges the suspect is facing at this time, but said more information will be released at a later date.
