Provincial government represented at Agritechnica in Germany

Minister of Advanced Education Tina Beaudry-Mellor is currently in Europe trying to help Saskatchewan-based ag tech companies expand to other markets around the world.

Beaudry-Mellor is currently in Germany taking in Agrictechnica, one of the world’s largest agriculture events, with 450,000 visitors from 130 countries.

She said attending Agritechnica is a big opportunity to show Saskatchewan to the world.

She said the technology on display has been phenomenal to see.

“People don’t think of the agricultural sector I don’t think as incredibly innovative, but the innovations here that I’ve had the opportunity to take advantage of and learn from are just incredible.”

Beaudry-Mellor said by all accounts, the event is going well for the Saskatchewan companies.

“All of the companies from Saskatchewan that I’ve spoke to were really excited about the global opportunities that they had,” Beaudry-Mellor said. “I think one of the largest customers that many spoke of were the eastern European markets (and) certainly China is also interested in some of what Saskatchewan is doing.”

Also on the trip, Beaudry-Mellor will attend the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization general conference in France, where she will represent Canadian interests in improving labour mobility and the recognition of academic credentials across international borders.
