Luke Combs to headline Country Thunder

The CMA’s male entertainer of the year is heading to the Craven valley this July.

Country Thunder released the list of acts which will perform at the four-day music festival July 9-12 in Regina on Friday morning.

Combs will close out the show Sunday night.  All six of his singles have reached number one on the Billboard charts including “Even Though I’m Leaving”

Country Thunder spokesperson Gerry Krochak said there will be some Saskatchewan content as well, with Tenille Arts and the Hunter Brothers performing on the mainstage.

“The thing is the Saskatchewan talent is really catching up to the rest of the world. We’ve had the Hunter Brothers playing some of our U.S. shows and they go over gangbusters,” Krochak said. “All of those careers are just skyrocketing, and it’s not just in Canada, so we’re super proud of them.

To have them on this stage in the home province is really special.”

Country Thunder CEO Troy Vollhoffer said there’s a great deal of diversity in this year’s lineup.

“We do a heritage act every day, so Nitty Gritty Dirt Band is also going to be on the lineup, and it just changes the dynamic and gives something for everyone to come out to see,” Vollhoffer said. “The kids love the old, heritage acts, and they’re true professionals and amazing at their craft.”

Vollhoffer said this is arguably the best lineup they’ve had since Craven made the switch to Country Thunder.

“From a booking standpoint, when you have seven shows that you’re booking for, it gives you a lot more buying power than just for one independent show,” Vollhoffer said. “We’re very fortunate in that aspect of it and our buying power is extremely strong.”
