Man faces nine charges connected to stolen vehicle investigation: RPS

A 28-year-old Regina man is facing multiple charges connected to a stolen vehicle investigation over the weekend.

On Saturday, just before 2:00am, a canine officer found a suspicious vehicle in the area of 0-100 block of Mikkelson Drive.

The grey pick-up truck sped off when patrol officers activated their emergency equipment.

Police say a spike belt was safely deployed and the truck carried on until it drove through a chain link fence on the 1900 block of Montague Street.

The driver fled on foot and was found by the canine team.

The 2002 Chev Silverado was confirmed stolen out of Yorkton.

Officers say 28-year-old Nicholas Kernaz is facing nine charges including two counts of possession of stolen property under $5,000, dangerous driving and flight from peace officer.

Kernaz will make his first court appearance on Monday.
