Detours still in place after Monday’s C.P derailment near Guernsey

Highway 16 between Plunkett and Guernsey remains closed Tuesday morning after Monday’s derailment of a C.P crude oil train between the two communities, detours are still in place.

As of Monday night, there were still some areas burning after a large fire erupted when the train jumped the track.

The crude has had no impact to waterways and C.P said in a news release that it is in close contact with regulators and local officials and will keep them informed of the situation.

No one was injured, and no evacuations were needed.
