Around 1.5-million litres of crude lost in C.P derailment near Guernsey this week

The Transportation Safety Board says about 1.5-million litres of oil was lost in the Canadian Pacific Railway freight train derailment and fire on Highway 16 between Plunkett and Guernsey earlier this week.

Thirty-three oil tank cars and one hopper car derailed, while about 20 were breached, spilling product that became engulfed in flames that burned for around 24 hours.

No one was hurt, and no waterways were affected.

C.P is responsible for the clean-up and all costs associated.
