Riders bring back two Canadian RB’s including former Ram Atlee Simon

The Saskatchewan Roughriders added to their depth at Canadian running back Monday by announcing two players who finished 2019 with the team will be back in 2020.

Former Regina Ram Atlee Simon joined the team in October. Prior to being a Rider, Simon had a strong career with the University of Regina Rams where he became the school’s all-time leader in rushing yards (3,295) and rushing touchdowns (22) along with total touchdowns (31). He was selected in the sixth round of the 2018 CFL Draft by the Calgary Stampeders, but was released by them prior to the start of the 2019 season.

Kienan Lafrance returns to the Roughriders after playing in all 18 games of the 2019 season. The Canadian running back had a strong year on special teams making 15 tackles, the second highest total on the team. LaFrance also added two carries for nine yards. The 28-year-old Winnipeg native is entering his sixth CFL season after being taken in the sixth round (45th overall) in the 2015 CFL Draft by the Ottawa Redblacks.
