Arrest warrant out on suspect after an officer was dragged behind a vehicle: RCMP

An RCMP officer is facing injuries after being dragged behind a vehicle.

La Loche RCMP say at about 8:00pm Saturday, a Constable stopped a vehicle on Highway 155, south of La Loche.

While the officer was speaking to the driver and passengers, the vehicle suddenly sped off, dragging the officer about 50 to 100 metres before he was freed and fell onto the roadway.

The Constable was treated in hospital and has since been released.

RCMP say 32-year-old Colin Lemaigre has been charged with assaulting a peace officer with a weapon and several other charges.

A warrant has been issued for his arrest as he is currently at large.

Anyone with information is asked to call RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
