Regina Police arrest man following knife incident

Regina Police arrested a man early on Christmas Day after he entered a business and threatened staff with a knife.

Police were dispatched at around 4:00 a.m. and arrived to a business on the 1000 block of Pasqua Street.

The suspect had entered the store and threatened an employee with a knife before leaving in a taxi cab. No one was injured in the incident.

Police eventually located the vehicle at the 900 block of Albert Street where they arrested 25-year-old John Watkin without incident.

While the situation was reported as a robbery, officers say they found no evidence suggesting a robbery or attempted robbery happened.

Watkin is set to make his first appearance in court on Friday morning.
