eHealth Saskatchewan targeted by ransomware attack

eHealth Saskatchewan is the most recent victim of a ransomware attack.

The company that manages the electronic files for Saskatchewan Health Authority says on Sunday it was attacked, but it was immediately detected by antivirus software.

It says some of the administrative systems were impacted and so some files have been encrypted, meaning they’ve been sort of locked down and requests for ransom have been issued.   eHealth says it will not be paying.

It’s unclear how long eHealth’s system will be affected while staff rebuild the servers.
