Riders release Moncrief for NFL opportunity

The Saskatchewan Roughriders are releasing linebacker Derrick Moncrief in order to pursue an NFL opportunity.

Moncrief joined the green and white in 2017, and played three seasons with the club.

In 2019, he played 17 games for the Riders, registering 69 defensive tackles, four sacks and three interceptions, earning him CFL All-Star honours for the first time in his career.

Moncreif was set to become a free agent in February.
