RCMP roving unit seize drugs, guns and cash in two incidents outside of Maidstone

The RCMP’s “F” Division roving traffic unit has made a pair of significant seizures recently.

On January 6th, the roving unit stopped a vehicle on highway 16 near Maidstone. A loaded handgun and about 10 thousand dollars in Canadian money was seized.

24 year-old Mahdi Mahdi from Regina faces 12 charges in relation to the matter, including possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and two counts of failure to comply.

Then the next day, the roving unit made another stop on highway 16 outside of Maidstone due to a smashed windshield. The investigation resulted in 526 grams of cocaine being seized.

55 year-old Karl Ericson of Prince George, BC, faces one charge of cocaine possession for the purpose of trafficking.
