Another cold night across southern Saskatchewan; warmup on the way

They are three words that have become quite familiar to Saskatchewan residents in January, but those words “Extreme Cold Warning” will soon be a thing of the past with many hoping that is it for the winter.

However, frigid air remains over parts of Saskatchewan meaning that extreme cold warning remains in effect for Saturday night with the weather office saying windchills will be at minus 40 or lower because of light to moderate northwesterly winds. Windchill values will moderate during the day on Sunday, however they may return to warning-levels over southeastern Saskatchewan Sunday night into Monday morning.

After that though, a major warmup is on the way with a high on Monday forecast at minus 7 with a forecast high on Tuesday of plus 1.

In the meantime, it will be another night of trying to stay warm and avoiding being outside for long periods of time.
