Yesterday morning Evans and I were chatting on air about a survey that came out stating that 50% of us have had problems of some kind with our neighbours. I’m glad to be able to say I haven’t. I can’t ever recall having a problem with any neighbour. I guess I’m one of the lucky ones. Some aren’t as fortunate.

One of the TV shows I love to watch is all about bad neighbours called “Fear Thy Neighbour.” This show documents what can go wrong if neighbours don’t get along and let me tell you, in some cases, it ain’t pretty. People have set their neighbour’s houses on fire, destroyed expensive landscaping and in more than one case, have even shot their neighbour dead. I sure am glad I don’t live in a neighbourhood like that.

Most of us on the block know each other, and while we might not hang out together, we know we could always knock on a door if we needed some help with something.

Years ago one of our neighbours rang our doorbell at 1:30 in the morning to let us know that some drunk lady plowed into our two vehicles parked in front of the house. He stood out on the street with me until the cops arrived and got his statement about what he saw. He even stuck around until everything was done and I headed into work. By then it was nearly 3 o’clock in the morning! He didn’t have to do that. That was a pretty neighbourly thing to do. Our whole block is full of people like that.

Good morning to my wonderful neighbours! You know who you are. You make life in our area enjoyable.
