Original story

Snow and rain from last night has created some interesting driving conditions for motorists this weekend.

Travel is not recommended for a few southwest Saskatchewan highways after a wave of snow and freezing drizzle from Saturday night and early Sunday. Those roadways include:

  • Highway 1 from Swift Current to Gull Lake;
  • Highway 4 from Swift Current to Sask Landing Provincial Park and to the Highway 343 junction;
  • Highway 32 from Swift Current to Cabri
  • Highway 37 from Cabri to Gull Lake; and
  • Highway 332.

Reports from the Highway Hotline state these roads present slush, reduced visibility and icy or slippery sections.

Swift Current RCMP are advising motorists to avoid travel if possible, adding the Saskatchewan Department of Highways has been notified of the dangerous road conditions.

No matter where people are travelling Sunday morning, drivers will want to be cautious on the roads as much of the province is reporting with winter driving conditions due to fog or slippery roads.
