The death of a 17-year-old boy on Star Blanket Cree Nation has been ruled a homicide by police.

Saskatchewan RCMP and the File Hills Police Service are investigating the murder after the teenager’s body was discovered in a residence on Friday night.

File Hills police arrived to the scene at approximately 8:30 p.m. after receiving a report of an altercation in the victim’s home.

An autopsy is scheduled for February 4. Police say there is no risk to public safety.
