The future of the Regina Public Library’s central branch will be discussed at an open house this upcoming week.
The Board of Directors has hired KPMG and Colliers to create a business case for renovations to the library, which is close to 60 years of age.
Chair of the board Sean Quinlan explains why a business case needs to be created for the library.
“We’re doing a lot of research on what is needed, whether we have all the administrative portions of the library service centrally located, what has to be done with permitting and possible construction,” explained Quinlan. “There’s a lot of aspects that have to be taken into account.”
Quinlan mentioned how the board has had a plan in the works for a number of years now. Due to its age and the deteriorating condition of the facility, they feel it’s time to make some updates.
After their presentation at the open house, they will ask the public for their feedback and what they would like to see in the library.”It’s a very large community, and we want to hear from all these people because [the library] belongs to them.”
The open house takes place Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. at the central library.
