Regina Police arrest suspect in downtown assault

Regina Police have arrested a man for an assault that allegedly took place Saturday afternoon.

Police were called to the 1800 block of Saskatchewan Drive, where it is believed a man physically assaulted a woman. A security guard tried to intervene, but was also assaulted. A knife was said to be in the possession of the suspect.

Police were able to locate the man, who was walking with the woman believed to be the victim of the original assault. After a struggle with officers, the suspect was arrested and taken to hospital for minor injuries. The woman fled the scene.

42 year-old Nelson Kahnapace faces four charges, including two counts of assault.
