University of Saskatchewan looking into obstructive sleep apnea

Those living with Obstructive Sleep Apnea have until April to submit their questions regarding the sleeping-disorder that they would like to see answered through research.

The University of Saskatchewan Respiratory Research Centre – in partnership with the James Lind Alliance are looking to decrease the number of those living with OSA by diving into research questions submitted by public.

Donna Goodridge, Director of the Respiratory Research Centre says they’re looking to hear from those with the sleep-disorder, their family members and their bed partners.

She says sometime it’s the bed partners that can pick up on things.

“Often it’s the bed partners who identify that somebody has, you know, they say oh you snore a lot or you, did you know you stopped breathing?”

Goodridge says almost 25 per cent of adults are at risk for OSA with 2017 numbers suggesting over 250,000 people in Saskatchewan have some form of sleep apnea.

The survey on the matter can be found here.
