Transportation Safety Board still searching for cause of this month’s train derailment near Guernsey

A preliminary report on the February 6 derailment of a CP Rail train near Guernsey has been released and it shows no mechanical defects were found on the train

The report on the incident, that saw 31 cars come off the tracks with 19 of them catching on fire, adds a review of the locomotive event recorder download determined that the train was handled in accordance with regulatory and company requirements.

The derailment resulted in 1.2 million litres of oil being spilled with a majority of it being burned off.
