The Regina International Airport will be a hoping place this Family Day long weekend.
With many growing tired of winter weather and kids off of school next week, lots of people will be flying somewhere hot for a winter getaway.
Airport President and CEO James Bogusz said the Family Day long weekend can easily rival Christmas as their busiest time of year.
“Sunwing puts on 13 different sun destinations on different days of the week, and we also of course have service into Las Vegas, Orlando and Phoenix with WestJet along with some Mexican destinations they also provide,” Bogusz said. “So on almost any given day there are the regular flights that would service various Canadian cities, and then we’ve got tons of international service,” he said.
Bogusz recommends you arrive at least 90 minutes before your flight is scheduled to take off.
“But preferably even more, it can be even two hours before their flight, to ensure baggage can be checked, they can find parking, and of course have a very low stress experience going through security check points, which can be very busy during peak hours,” said Bogusz.
He adds that if you make it past security with time to spare the terminal expansion is complete, wifi speed has been tripled, there is a child’s play area and new places to grab food before your flight.
