As rail blockades continue in support of hereditary Chiefs of the Wet’suwet’en First Nation in B.C., frustration is growing across the country.
One group in the province that’s also feeling the frustration is the Municipalities of Saskatchewan.
President Gordon Barnhart said it’s something the province simply doesn’t need to see happening.
“Saskatchewan is a very export dependent and minded province, and we use the rail a lot,” Barnhart said. “Not only for grain, but for oil and potash and uranium, so we’re very concern about the outflow of products, but we’re also very concerned in terms of the inflow as well,” he said.
Barnhart also said his group is calling on the federal government to take immediate action to find a way to get rail traffic going again.
