(Jamie) I Wish The City Would Just Get This Problem Fixed!

Thank goodness we had freezing temperatures overnight which froze the pool of water surrounding my vehicle, otherwise I would have had to enter through the passenger side door. Here we go again. Lots of water on the street and a sewer that just won’t let it drain. It’s a pain in the a**!

During the summer whenever we get a heavy rain the water accumulates at the sewer and takes it’s sweet time draining. My sewer grate isn’t plugged, but for some reason the water doesn’t drain as fast as it should. It usually takes overnight for the water to eventually find its way to the city drainage system. Sometimes even a night won’t be long enough. Many times the water will even flood over the sidewalk so we can’t even get to our vehicles without wading through a pool of water.

At the end of winter, with warmer weather like we’re having now, the snow melts and we have the exact same problem.

I’ve called the City of Regina on more than one occasion over the last few years, but nothing ever gets done about it. I’ve talked to a couple of city workers that I know and they say the same thing. “Sounds like your sewer needs to be blown out,” whatever in the world that means.

There were a couple of occasions last summer where I actually had to go through my passenger side door to get myself behind the wheel. Hey, that’s a lot easier to do when you’re 18, trust me. From what I saw last night before I went to bed, I thought this morning my be another one of those days.

It’s frustrating to have to call the city again knowing that my complaint will obviously end up in somebody’s trash can.

I might be better off buying myself a boat!
