Five men arrested for Regina fentanyl bust

The Regina Police Drug Unit completed an investigation into fentanyl trafficking in the Queen City.

A search warrant was executed with the help of SWAT on March 15th on the 900 block of 15th Avenue, resulting in the arrests of 5 people.

During the search, police seized around 450 grams of fentanyl, $11,000 in cash, and a loaded .45 caliber handgun, which was stolen.

29-year-old Hanad Farah, 33-year-old Mohamud Hassan, 33-year-old Omar Issak, 31-year-old Daineol Johnson, and 23-year-old Hassan Salad, all from Edmonton were arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking (fentanyl) [5(2)CDSA];
  • Possession of proceeds of crime (Canadian Currency) Over $5000 [355(a)CC];
  • Unsafe storage of a firearm [86(2)CC];
  • Possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace [88CC];
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm [91(1)CC];
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm with ammunition 95(1)(a)CC];
  • Possession of a firearm obtained by crime 96(1)CC];

Mohamud Hassan is also facing 3  counts of possession of firearm and ammunition contrary to a prohibition order, and failure to comply.

Daineol Johnson is facing an additional 2 counts of possession of a firearm, and 2 counts of failure to comply.

Omar Issak is facing additional charges of possession of firearm, and failure to comply.

All suspects made their first court appearance Monday morning.
