Edmonton senior has vehicle impounded after going 180 km an hour on Highway 16

A 73-year-old Edmonton man has been fined over $1000 while getting his licence suspended for three days and his vehicle impounded for seven days following a speeding incident Saturday.

North Battleford RCMP say they received multiple reports of a vehicle driving at a high rate of speed eastbound on Highway 16 near Delmas on Saturday afternoon around 12:40 p.m.   An officer located the vehicle and determined via radar that it was going at a speed of 180 kilometers an hour.

He was charged under the Traffic Safety Act for speeding in excess of 50 kilometers an hour over the posted speed limit.
