City cancelling parking tickets near General Hospital during COVID-19 situation

The anger of many healthcare professionals who have received parking tickets near the General Hospital over the past few days can be downgraded.

Late Thursday afternoon, the City of Regina announced all non-safety-related parking tickets issued in the area surrounding the facility since the first statement by the city on COVID-19 on March 13 will be cancelled.  The city adds parking enforcement in the area will also be relaxed to recognize the work of medical health professionals.

“We have heard the concerns raised by staff at the General Hospital,” said Mayor Michael Fougere in a release “We recognize that these are unusual circumstances and healthcare professionals are more limited in their movement than ever and we need to respond in kind. We thank them for their hard work combatting the virus and helping
to keep Reginans safe and healthy.”

The matter will be discussed further at a special meeting of Regina City Council Friday morning.
