Layoffs at West Wind Aviation due to COVID-19

West Wind Aviation has made layoffs to deal with the impact of COVID 19. Stephen Smith, Acting President and CEO says that like almost all airlines in Canada, and worldwide, West Wind Aviation has seen demand for its services drop dramatically. As a result, the company has reduced its schedules by two thirds at least until April 13th.

Smith says as of Saturday, although they have a good, dedicated team of employees, he points out staffing is the one cost they have control over so they have issued a number of temporary layoffs or reduced hours of work in addition to staff working from home.

West Wind Aviation Group includes West Wind Aviation, Transwest Air, Northern Shield Helicopters and Snowbird Aviation Services.
