Wadena RCMP charge Fishing Lake FN man in connection to house shooting

A Fishing Lake First Nation man is facing several charges after Wadena RCMP responded to a reported shooting at a home on the First Nation.

RCMP responded to the incident on Saturday, but on the way to the house, spotted the suspect believed to be involved in the incident hiding behind a vehicle on a nearby road.

The suspects, along with four others at the scene, were arrested. A search of their vehicle discovered a firearm, ammunition, and a small quantity of illegal drugs. Only one suspect is facing charges, while the other four that were arrested have since been released.

22 year-old Lane Nataucappo faces nine charges:

· Carrying a concealed weapon.

· Unsafe storage of a firearm.

· Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

· Possession of a prohibited/restricted firearm with ammunition without a licence.

· Using a firearm in the commission of an offence.

· Unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon.

· Mischief causing danger to life.

· Discharge of a firearm while being reckless.

· Possession of a controlled substance.

Nataucappo is set to appear in court on Thursday.
