Farm supports coming according to federal government

The PM’s special prairie representative says he supports enhanced income programs for farmers during the covid-19 pandemic.
The Canadian Cattlemen’s Association has called for immediate stop-gap support for producers and improved business risk programs like agristability.
Winnipeg Liberal MP Jim Carr says last week’s 5 billion dollar FCC credit enhancement is only the start of looking at better farm supports.
“The Business Risk Management Program is top of the agenda of federal and provincial ministers,” said Carr. “Everything is on the table, these are extraordinary times. No one could have predicted a number of weeks ago where we are now.”
Carr says these are early days of the pandemic and Ottawa has the capacity to respond to producers as needed.
