Federated Co-op is asking the provincial labour relations board to oversee a force vote on what FCL has called their “final offer” to Unifor Local 594.
In a news release, FCL says the final offer is based off of recommendations made by a special mediators’ report, with modifications made to ensure FCL can continue to survive during difficult economic times while offering high-quality jobs at the refinery.
FCL also says they are disappointed that the Unifor local 594 bargaining committee was unwilling to take the offer to their members for a vote, which has prompted Co-op to go to the Labour Relations Board in hopes they can order a final offer vote.
Unifor had previously responded to this offer, dismissing it as a further attempt by CO-op to gain concessions from local 594 members.
