Nearly 150 drug overdoses since January 1st in Regina: RPS

The Regina Police Service (RPS) is continuing to investigate a high number of drug overdoses in the city after being made aware of 143 since the start of the year.

RPS say of those incidents, officers have responded to 85 and administered Narcan 24 times. Seven people have died by drug overdose and five other fatalities are under investigation.

Regina Police is once again urging residents to be aware of the danger posed by street drugs like fentanyl.

Not only are police asking people to have a safety plan in place, they are overemphasizing the importance of calling 911 in the event of a drug overdose.
