After suspending operations on Monday, March 30, the YMCA of Regina is preparing to reopen two of their child care centres.
The temporary shutdown of the Northwest and Rochdale locations was ordered after a parent within one of the centres reported to staff that they and their child were going in for COVID-19 tests. The parent said they were experiencing similar symptoms to the virus.
YMCA of Regina learned on April 1 that both results are negative.
A release from the YMCA of Regina states that extensive cleaning in both centres began on Thursday for when they reopen on Friday.
The organization says they will continue with the increased safety protocols that were in effect prior to the closures which included:
- Conducting and recording temperature checks of children as they enter the centre and questionnaires for children’s parents;
- Separation of children to no more than 8 per room per age group;
- Proper allocation of staff to each room to maintain ratio of consistent supervision;
- Enhanced cleaning and sanitization of the centres conducted before, during and after business operations.
