Impaired driver who killed Van de Vorst family in 2016 granted six month day parole

The woman responsible for the deaths of the Van de Vorst family in one of the most heart wrenching road tragedies in Saskatchewan’s history, has been granted six month day parole.

Catherine McKay, was sentenced to ten years for causing the crash that killed Jordan and Chanda Van de Vorst, their two-year-old son, Miguire and five-year-old daughter, Kamrynat at Highway 11 and Wanuskewin Road just outside of Saskatoon in January of 2016.

McKay who pleaded guilty to impaired driving causing death, was serving her sentence at a healing lodge.

At the time of the crash her blood alcohol level was more than three times the legal limit.
