Field hospital could be set up at Evraz Place to deal with COVID19 patients

While releasing projections on the impact COVID-19 will have on the healthcare system in Saskatchewan on Wednesday, the Saskatchewan Health Authority let it be known they have four facilities ready to accomodate COVID-19 patients at the pandemic’s peak.

The four locations include Regina’s two hospitals, the General and the Pasqua, as well as the Wascana Rehabilitation Centre and a field hospital at Evraz Place.

The SHA says their projections for Regina are to have an ICU capacity of 410 people with 825 beds available for acute care.  As it stands right now, there are 23 patients in the intensive care units at the General and Pasqua.  Of those 23, one is being treated for COVID-19.

Right now, the city’s two hospitals can treat 39 ICU patients and 546 in acute care.

More information will be given Thursday morning.
