Regina man facing charges after threatening to cough on police officers

A 30-year-old Regina man faces a variety of charges including uttering threats after he allegedly told some members of the Regina Police Service that he had COVID19 and was going to cough on them after being arrested for driving a stolen vehicle.

Police say it happened Saturday night just before midnight when they saw a van speeding through north-central.   That van swerved and almost hit a marked cruiser on 4th Avenue between McTavish and Argyle.

The van was found a short time later on the 1400 block of Rae Street with the man being arrested a short time later.

While being transported back to police headquarters, he told the officers he had tested positive for COVID19 and made a threat to cough on them.

John Aaron McDonald made his first court appearance on the matter on Monday
