(Jamie) Ugly Car, Great Stereo

This morning I pulled up to the set of lights at Albert St. and Sask. Drive. Next to me was an older car with one guy in it. His driver’s side mirror was broken off and there was a bunch of duct tape that appeared to holding his bumper to the rest of the car. I wondered which body shop in the city was responsible for that fine work.

Even if I hadn’t noticed that car beside me, I definitely would have heard him. As a matter of fact, I did hear him, from about 20 feet away as I was pulling up next to him. That stereo of his was blasting some godforsaken music and this guy’s head was bobbing right along with it. I was surprised his windows hadn’t blasted out. He was definitely in his own little world.

It took me back to my high school days when guys would put a $500 stereo system into a $200 car and then drive back and forth in front of the school with that stereo blasting some Kiss or Aerosmith.

I guess it was supposed to impress the girls, but I can’t recall ever seeing a pretty girl sitting in the passenger seat in any of those cars.

That might explain why the guy I saw this morning was all alone.
