Sask. RCMP called hundreds of times for COVID-19 related complaints

The Saskatchewan RCMP say they have received 894 COVID-19 related calls since March 1st.

Of the 894 calls, 229 were complaints of social gatherings of over 10 people, 395 complaints of people failing to self-isolate when allegedly required to do so, and 270 other COVID-19 related calls.

As a result of the calls, RCMP have laid 13 charges.

Mounties say that the vast majority of the calls were resolved by educating people on the potential health and enforcement consequences that can come from not complying with the Public Health Order.

The RCMP say that they continue to work with the Saskatchewan Health Authority in investigating any potential violations of the order.

Mounties urge the public to continue to stay home and avoid potentially spreading the virus.

Saskatchewan RCMP Detachments remain open during the pandemic and local police officers will continue to be present, responding to calls for service and ensuring community safety.
