CAA Regina lending a helping hand to food banks during pandemic

CAA Roadside Assistance two truck drivers in Regina are taking advantage of a slow down in calls for service to help drop-off and deliver items for the Regina Food Bank.

Christine Niemczyk with CAA Saskatchewan says that the drivers have dropped off a lot of hampers so far.

“We started this, this past Monday. I heard on Tuesday, there was a record day of over 450 hampers delivered,” said Niemczyk. “Anywhere between 50-70 hampers per day per driver, and we have three drivers.”

Niemczyk adds that the contactless, safe delivery has been very well received by everyone involved.

“The recipients are very appreciative, they can understand that it’s a tough time and they appreciate the support,” said Niemczyk. “We’ll continue to do this as the need continues.”

Niemczyk stressed that all calls for CAA roadside assistance services will continue to be met throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
