Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has taken the wraps off a new $9-billion support program for students who may not be eligible for current federal aid packages, or find summer jobs.
At his COVID-19 briefing this morning, Trudeau has launched the Canada Emergency Student Benefit.
“With this benefit you’ll get $1,250 a month, from May to August,” Trudeau said. “If you take care of someone else or have a disability, that amount will go up to $1,750 each month,” Trudeau added.
Trudeau also announced student volunteers involved in the fight against COVID-19 will be eligible a $1000 to $5000, depending on you hours, through the Canada Student Service Grant.
