2019 harvest nearing completion in Saskatchewan

Saskatchewan farmers are making good progress mopping up the 2019 harvest.

About 2-million acres of crop was left over winter, and provincial crop extension specialist Shannon Friesen says the combines have been rolling to wrap up harvest.

Friesen says the spring harvested crop varies greatly, with some fields seeing little change in yield and quality from last fall.

But she adds some other crops have been a write-off.

Friesen says some of the worst hit areas are in the northern grainbelt but crop quality varies greatly in all regions.
