Blackjack scam at Casino Regina costs government $30,000

The sharp eye of a visitor at Casino Regina in January has resulted in an employee being fired with charges pending.

The customer reported some “unusual behaviour between a dealer and a guest, whereby the dealer was paying out losing hands on a blackjack table.” Video confirmed that some wrongdoing was taking place with the dealer being placed on administrative leave immediately before being relieved of his job just over a week after the incident.

Both the dealer and the guest who was given just under $30,000 in total were handed five-year bans with the matter now in the hands of Regina police.

The information was revealed as the government reported losses of public money reported for the first quarter of 2020.
