Ottawa announces $252 million for agriculture COVID-19 aid

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has announced more COVID-19 pandemic aid to the agriculture sector.

He announced $125 million to help beef and pork producers who have to keep animals for a longer period of time.

$50 million is going to a surplus food purchase program, since items like milk, butter and potatoes are being thrown out.

$77 million will help processing plants buy personal protective equipment.

In total, Trudeau today announced $252 million to support to help the agricultural industry.
