Schools in Saskatchewan will remain closed for rest of academic year

While it was expected when the province shut schools down in late March that they likely wouldn’t re-open until September is safe, the province has made it official.

The Regina Catholic School board has an announcement on its website stating students won’t be coming back to the classroom this year.

The statement says “The provincial government’s Response Planning Team  has updated school divisions in Saskatchewan with the news that schools’ supplementary learning will continue remotely for the rest of the 2019-2020 school year meaning students will not be returning to school this year.”

The statement adds the school board is searching for creative ways to celebrate both Grade 8 and 12 graduations that are not happening that fit within the COVID-19 guidelines the province has set out.
