Two Calgary men arrested after stealing car

On Thursday, Regina Police noticed a stolen vehicle on the 700 block of Rae Street

Soon after, four men exited the vehicle, and when police asked them to stop, two of the men complied and the other two ran away.

A member of the RPS K-9 Unit located the suspect seen driving the stolen vehicle, who was bit by the Police Dog during the arrest. The 31-year-old man was treated in hospital for minor injuries, was then arrested and charged.

The other suspect was located on the roof of a building on Rae Street. When RPS brought the man into custody, he provided a false identity and was then charged with obstruction.

An investigation determined that the two suspects who ran away, stole the vehicle. Both men were charged.

31-year-old Cavan Dillon Cachene and 28-year-old Merwyn Nathan Cachane, both from Calgary, have been charged with theft of auto and possession under $5,000.

Cavan was also charged with driving while prohibited and breach of release.

Merwyn was additionally charged with obstruction of justice and breach of release.

Both men made their first court appearances in Friday afternoon.
